    Disappointed

“My wedding is a few months away, and in order to have time to pay the expense of the flowers, I decided to go to Darby s Rockwall Flower and Design to get the ball rolling.

I should have just gone with my gut and gone with someone else before I made an appointment, but I decided to give them a chance and see what they had to offer because of all of the good reviews I found on several different sites. When I initially walked in, I learned that the owner, Darby, was on vacation. The person took my information and assured me that someone would contact me by the next day to make an appointment. I didn t hear from anyone for over a week. Darby called, and we made an appointment.

When I arrived for my appointment, Darby and I sat down to talk things over. The first thing that I told her was that I really don t like the look of a specific kind of flower, although my bridesmaids did, and I didn t really want it. Instead of going in a different direction, she drew what this flower would look like with others on a sheet of paper and was trying really hard to persuade me to go with that flower. I liked the look of the drawing, and even though I wasn t feeling quite sure about it, I decided to finish with the appointment, go home and look at pictures of the arrangement she drew up, and wait for the quote. When I went home to check out the arrangement, I was horrified. I did not like it at all.

Before I left, Darby told me that I would get my quote by the next day. I waited...and waited...and waited...and several days later went into the shop to ask about it thinking that maybe they d have a hard copy to give me. I shouldn t have gone in.

I was greeted by Maureen, who insisted on speaking down to me like I was a stupid child...but she did it in a nice way. My mom and I checked out (and wanted to walk out) when she started in with Let me tell you how the flower business works... She insisted that I misunderstood when Darby told me that I would get a quote next-day because she usually doesn t get them done for about a week and kept asking whether or not I checked my spam. She also decided to lecture me on how e-mail works (I worked in IT), and basically told me that I need to go home and check my spam because I missed it. Regardless, she pressed me for my information after I told her to forget about it, and called Darby.

Maureen called be about an hour later with the same condescending attitude. After going into a dissertation about what meet the teacher night is, how to check my spam, an what a large PDF is, she eventually told me that Darby did, in fact, send the quote when she said she would, and said that she d re-send it again later that night. It has been almost two days, and I still haven t received it..nor have I received a phone call asking whether or not I got the quote and if I have any questions (which, if they truly wanted my business, they would have done sometime today...especially knowing that I hadn t received it in the past).

I went to two other local flower shops. Not only did both of the owners there listen to what I wanted, liked, and disliked, but they made helpful suggestions centered around that. They didn t try to pressure me into getting anything that I didn t want, they had plenty of pictures to show me (instead of drawing something), and wrote me a quote right then and there (I don t know why Darby couldn t...)

I ultimately went with one of these other stores because of the poor customer service. I don t appreciate being spoken down to, I don t appreciate not being followed up with (considering the circumstances), and I don t at all like how my questions and concerns were handled by Maureen. Rockwall Flower and Design might be good for small day-to-day arrangements, but I definitely wouldn t trust them with a big event like a wedding or funeral.

You re better off taking your business elsewhere.”
